Vedic vs western astrology

Astrology is considered as a boon and a saviour for humanity. This has been one of the biggest assets for human beings to get rid of sorrows and make their life a happy one. There are two different types of astrology namely Vedic and western astrology. So it's time for us to know the difference between them.

Origin

The origin of Vedic astrology has been derived from Vedas which is the first scripture on earth. This Vedic astrology has been developed by ancient and rishies. Therefore the Vedic astrology is considered as a word of God and has been in demand.

Whereas the Western astrology has been derived from the ancient Greeks. It influences Egypt Civilization and is also very popular.

Calculations of astrology

Considering the Vedic astrology it consists of some fixed zodiac signs with some prefix nakshatras which is known as sidereal Zodiac. The basic meaning of this Zodiac signs that it is the time which is taken by the earth to revolve around the sun. So based on these calculations the Vedic astrology is determined.

On the other hand, the Western and astrology are completely dependent on movable Zodiac signs. And this is named as tropical soda at which depends upon the orientation of the earth to the sun.

Solar and lunar system

The Vedic astrology is completely moon-based astrology which can cover all the lives of human beings.

Whereas the Western astrology depends upon the movement of the Sun. So it truly depends on the positioning of the sun and the physical characteristics of the individuals.

The number of planets and role of the stars

Vedic astrology considers all the nine planets and also uses that 12 signs. In addition to that, it also uses all the 27 nakshatras with each one covering a span of 13 degrees and 20 minutes.

The Western astrology makes use of only a few planets like the Neptune, pluto and Uranus. These are perhaps not considered by the Vedic astrology and it will not consider the nakshatras as well.
