Metals used in jewellery

In today's world, there are many different types of fashionable jewellery and every jewellery has its values. Some of them are cheaper whereas some are expensive. 

The price and value of any jewellery depend on which metal was used to accomplishing it and how much metal was used. Some commonly used metals are discussed below:

SILVER

For making jewellery, the sterling form of silver is used, in which 92.5 percent silver is used and 7.5 percent copper. It is very durable as compared to other metals. Due to this reason, jewellery made with silver is very common in the market but it is cheaper than gold and platinum.

GOLD

One of the finest and expensive metals used for jewellery is Gold. It is expensive because of its characteristics. Gold is hard to find, due to this reason it is more precious.

PLATINUM

Platinum is also one of the most expensive and rares metals. It is very difficult to find platinum, it takes tons of indigenous soil for producing a pound of platinum. It is more durable than steel and titanium.

COSTUME METALS

Costume metals are iron, copper, nickel and titanium. These metals are used for making costume types jewellery. These metals get mixed with the precious metals for giving hardness and durability to the jewellery. These metals have no intrinsic value, due to this reason the jewellery of costume metals are cheaper than gold, platinum and silver.

TITANIUM

Titanium is completely a hypoallergenic metal type. That is why it is believed that jewellery made up of titanium is good for the people who have terrible allergies to the other types of metals. Titanium is the hardest metal which is lightweight and scratch-resistant. It is very easy to colour jewellery made up of titanium.
