Dish soap is an ideal solution for cleaning jewellery.

Silver tends to lose its shine over time and gets tarnish due to perfumes, hair spray, cosmetics, oils, hand cream and even some foods. There are many simple ways to clean silver on your own at home.

1. Aluminium Foil + Laundry detergent

This is an appropriate cleaning trick for tarnished silver jewellery or silverware. Fill hot water in a bowl lined with aluminium foil. Add a small amount of liquid laundry detergent and stir the mixture well. Drop the silver inside and leave it for a minute. Thereafter, take the silver out, rinse it with lukewarm water and dry it with a paper towel.

2. Cornflour + Water

If your silver jewellery has become dull, this method will help you to restore its shine. Mix cornflour and water and prepare a thick paste. Apply this paste onto the silver item. Leave it to dry completely. Thereafter, rub it off with a towel to restore the shine of the silverware or jewellery.

3. Ketchup Clean-up

For some people, it could sound weird but ketchup is a great option for removing tarnish from silver. Drop a few drops of ketchup on a soft towel and rub it gently on the tarnished jewellery or silverware. Thereafter, rub it with a microfibre cloth.

4. Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is a quick solution for polishing the silver ring. Put hand sanitizer on a soft towel and rub your jewel gently.

5. Toothpaste

It is the easiest way to clean using toothpaste. Put toothpaste on a soft cloth and rub onto the silverware or jewellery. Leave it for 5 minutes and thereafter, rinse off the toothpaste with water.

6. Lemon-lime Soda

Lemon-lime soda is also a good option for cleaning the silver jewellery or silverware. Leave the silver in this solution for one hour. After an hour, take the silver out and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Thereafter, dry the silver jewellery or silverware with soft towel or cloth.
