DIAMONDS IN GREEK AND ROMAN MYTHOLOGY

Diamonds are a symbol of faithfulness, love, purity and innocence. They have great importance in different cultures. It is considered to be the most precious stone due to its sacred belief. Additionally, they have stood for power, strength, clarity, invincibility and love. They are believed to be the Rock of Gods in some cultures.

Greeks and Romans have sacred beliefs about diamonds. They saw it as the tears of the gods. They also hypothesized that the diamonds might be fragments of asteroids.

According to one ancient Greek philosopher named Plato, diamonds are actual living things that represent celestial spirits. In Greek culture, diamonds have sacred belief due to the mystique power associated with this stone.

Roman and Greek cultures have similar beliefs about diamonds, they believe that diamonds are a godly gift and protect them against any kind of harm but In Roman civilization, the influence of diamonds is more than in Greek society. Similar to ancient Indian tribes, the Romans thought that diamonds were gifts from the gods that could shield them from harm. Unlike today's era, where people like to wear diamonds of different cuts and designs, Cutting the diamonds was regarded as rude back then. It is believed that cutting a diamond is equal to cutting a god which is disrespectful to the gods who were thought to be represented by these gems. Therefore, to protect warriors from damage, diamonds were worn uncut and in their natural state on the battlefield.
