The festival mostly falls in the month of Bhadra, according to the Hindu calendar and in August/ September according to the Gregorian calendar. Ganesh Charturthi has also been known as Vinayaka Chaturthi as it has the greatest importance that is celebrated with great devotion.

Tradition of the Puja

People in India celebrate the excitement for 10-long days especially, the greatest attractions are organized in Mumbai every year, several people accomplish the puja by taking various sizes of Ganesha idols and make the puja place attractive. For a few years, there have been more consciousness in terms of organic choices of Ganpati idol as the erstwhile methods have been found to deeply affect marine life and pollute the environment. During 11 days, people enjoy great excitement and enthusiasm, new dresses, new household things have been brought to home to make it more auspicious. On the last day of the festival the idols are taken out in a colorful and musical procession and immersed traditionally in water.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2021 falls on the fourth day of Shukla Paksha and will be celebrated on September 10.

Shubh Muhurat

Ganesha Chaturthi 2021 Madhyana Puja Shubh Muhurat is between 11.03 AM to 1.33 PM.

Puja Vidhi

The festival begins with Pranpratishtham which consists of the chanting of mantras by a priest. Offerings which are known to be loved by Lord Ganesha, the special Ladoos are ordered and placed in front of the idol. This also includes sweet savories like modak, shrikhand, payasam, coconut rice and motichoor ladoo and others if you wish. Devotees organized many special pujas and throngs to the temple, special pandals set up for Ganesh Chaturthi to pay their respect. People even keeping fast on this day rise during Brahma Muhurta and take bath. After that they pledge to keep the fast with utmost sincerity and dedication. Certain restrictions have to be followed during the Vinayaka Chaturthi. The fast keeping individual has to maintain celibacy and has to refrain from consuming meat, any kind of alcohol and other tamasic food during the day. It is said that devotees have to wear new clothes on that particular day.
