Moh’s Scale

It is the scale of hardness suggested by Friedrich Moh some 100 years ago. It is still used by mineralogists the world over.
Hardness or resistance to scratching is denoted by this scale.
The figures of the scale merely donates the order of Hardness and has no quantitative significance.
Figure 1 is for Talc and 10 for Diamond.
