One of the most auspicious and celebrated puja in India that holds much significance to the people of this country. The puja is celebrated for a special purpose where we worship the god of wisdom and good fortune - Lord Ganesha. The foremost and important Hindu idol that has been worshipped in different places of the country. But Ganesh Chaturthi is specifically celebrated to make the birthday of Ganesha special. A popular Hindu deity who is popular in Hinduism as he offers good luck and fortune. Ganesha is not only an idol to Hindu people but it has been considered one of the most powerful lords. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated annually as the celebration is a symbol of the fresh start of every year. The festival mostly falls in the month of Bhadra, according to the Hindu calendar and in August/ September according to the Gregorian calendar. Ganesh Charturthi has also been known as Vinayaka Chaturthi as it has the greatest importance that is celebrated with great devotion.

Tradition of the Puja

People in India celebrate the excitement for 10-long days especially, the greatest attractions are organized in Mumbai every year, several people accomplish the puja by taking various sizes of Ganesha idols and make the puja place attractive. For a few years, there have been more consciousness in terms of organic choices of Ganpati idol as the erstwhile methods have been found to deeply affect marine life and pollute the environment. So, people have become more cautious regarding the celebration. This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm especially by the natives of Mumbai, every year, lakhs of devotees are gathered to witness the grand celebration even people from abroad visit the place to shoot a short film or documentary on the celebration. Therefore the month of September has a special significance to the people of Mumbai, even the whole of India. During 11 days, people enjoy great excitement and enthusiasm, new dresses, new household things have been brought to home to make it more auspicious. On the last day of the festival the idols are taken out in a colorful and musical procession and immersed traditionally in water.

This festival holds great meaning to the students as the lord is significant for the students who are still studying and the people who are in business. Lord Ganesha is the symbol of wealth, thus people who are in this field pray to him for happiness. Despite different castes and religions, people are happy to worship Ganesha in their own way, that is really commendable and a good thing to witness. Ganesh Chaturthi 2021 falls on the fourth day of Shukla Paksha and will be celebrated on September 10.

Shubh Muhurat

Ganesha Chaturthi 2021 Madhyana Puja Shubh Muhurat is between 11.03 AM to 1.33 PM.

Puja Vidhi

The festival begins with Pranpratishtham which consists of the chanting of mantras by a priest. Offerings which are known to be loved by Lord Ganesha, the special Ladoos are ordered and placed in front of the idol. This also includes sweet savories like modak, shrikhand, payasam, coconut rice and motichoor ladoo and others if you wish. Devotees organized many special pujas and throngs to the temple, special pandals set up for Ganesh Chaturthi to pay their respect. People even keeping fast on this day rise during Brahma Muhurta and take bath. After that they pledge to keep the fast with utmost sincerity and dedication. Certain restrictions have to be followed during the Vinayaka Chaturthi. The fast keeping individual has to maintain celibacy and has to refrain from consuming meat, any kind of alcohol and other tamasic food during the day. It is said that devotees have to wear new clothes on that particular day.
