PEARL MYTHOLOGY AND ITS SYMBOLISM
Pearls are the only gem that was created by living creatures, such as marine oysters and freshwater mussels. A pearl is known to enhance the connection to the divine in Hindu and Buddhist traditions whereas in Roman pears are believed as a sign of wealth.
Pearl is known to provide an effective aid by increasing memory
and treating mental diseases including depression and is known to bring mental
peace and increase intelligence. It is also helpful in maintaining and balancing
our body fluids. Diseases related and bladder and blood pressure can be healed
with this precious gemstone.
People who have a weak moon on an astrological chart and have favorable moon in their horoscope are advised to wear pearls as the harmed moon can be responsible for issues with the throat, eyes, and diarrhea. The power of the Moon will be increased and the effects will be calmed if you wear pearls.
Depending on Mollusc and different geographical locations, there
occur different types and colors of pearl but the most common color of a pearl
is white. Every different color of a pearl symbolizes a different belief, white
symbolizes innocence whereas pink is a symbol of love and romance. Also, yellow
symbolizes optimism, however black is a symbol of protection.
Every tradition has different beliefs associated with a Pearl. The Japanese once had the view that pearls were made from the tears of mythological animals. Nymphs, mermaids, and angels are a few examples of these beings.
Ancient Egyptians placed treasured pearls in their coffins when
they passed away because they prized them so highly. The most well-known tale
from this period is related to Cleopatra, the illustrious Egyptian monarch.
According to legend, she removed the stone from a pair of her pearl earrings
and dissolved it in water and then drank it. This was allegedly done to
demonstrate to Roman politician Mark Antony that the wealth of the entire
country could be consumed in a single meal.
Early Chinese civilization considered black pearls to be very
meaningful. They served it as a wise sign. The diamonds, according to popular
belief, developed within a dragon's head. The dragon carried them in its fangs
after they had reached adulthood. The belief held that the only way to obtain the
pearls was to kill the dragon.
